You sure are big on saving time, huh!
You should probably rethink that next time you go to make any post anywhere ever.

Leet speak is bad for the post. It tends to make us nto listen to your ideas.
But yes a trader city would be nice.

I wouldnt make a town called Traders city, im my point of few it sounds kinda gay ( not offensive to you 'Bloods' just giving my opinion bout this thread ).
But I do think its not such a bad idea. If you can make it somewhat like the Auction house for example in FFXI and put it in LA and some other big towns. Allthough Ive seen a lot of bugs and scams in that auction house. There also might be a little problem, Im pretty sure that it will make the expensive items go down in price very fast, maybe that isnt that bad anyways. Since there will be a lot of competition and uber players could price their items low since they allready got enough money. And about the whole balance thing in this game, I guess there should be a lot of adjusting to it.

Trade cities will not work. The average trader is also a very active spammer, and has also a little of a scammer in him/her. Trading is no fun for them, when there is no potential of making a big profit out of an unsuspecting newbie. In the long run you'll see that traders will be runing from Ascalon and the trade city up and down, all the time.

I agree with the auction house idea. It would be really nice to have an easier trading method, but then again you have to have good timing, because what if at the time of selling you only get to sell your ______________ for the minumum amount you pick, and if someone comes in and places that bet.... well you could be getting a better deal elsewhere probably. I wouldnt be surprised to see AN working on it actually.....

Or you can set up a city or place where people can set up a vending stall. (sorry totally ripped from RO)
Make it like the NPC merchant dialogue and people can shop around. Of course this will increase server load by about 200x. But this is true of the msg spamming also.
Its a pity you can't really police the shout channel so that it forces people to spam on the trade channels.

I sell stuff and i dont have any bit of a scammer in me. I usually trade things for a lot less than they are worth. Course that could just be that i want some money and I don't like to spend forever spamming "WTS *fill in blank*

Auction houses are, if I've heard correctly, a huge strain on bandwidth and server loads and make little sense with stuff like the GWG Guild Wars eBay up. As for trader's cities and all the rest, good and noble ideas, but ultimately futile. As has been stated, the typical trader is a farmer with more aggression than intelligence who is looking to make a killing by selling something at well above market value to an overawed, undereducated rookie and would simply avoid areas where more intelligent players would call him on crap. He'd stay nicely planted in Lion's Arch and spam "WTS Artificial Breasts" or whatever he's trying to make gold off of that day in the Local channel.
That's the way it is, that's the way it was, that's the way it's always gonna be. Unfortunately >_<.

In Factions, Gaile told they are looking into a in game trading system. I can't bother to look up the thread (cuz I'm lazy) but it is in the Factions forums. Someone posted pictures of the whole Gaile conversation. When is it going to be done? Who knows...
I like the trading city/auction house system. There should be a way for you to move your items to a for sale box, similar to putting them in storage where you'd set your sale price. This would make it easy because any potential buyer could take a look at the item stats. Of course there would also be some sort of search system. Potential buyers could then just buy it at that price or make you a counteroffer.
As for crafting materials, players should be able to sell them to the materials trader. The materials trader makes a hefty profit between its buy/sell price that is unrealistic. Make the material trader pay more for my wood (9g) and I'll sell it to them. Merchants should adjust to player transactions. I know this is hard to do but maybe the program could see that merchants are not selling much wood or no one is buying wood from them so they would adjust the spread.
